Fashion Magazine asked the style panel to make punk accessible. It often may feel like a costume, but it’s really about layering in the accessories until building the confidence to wear the look effortlessly. Here is what I said.

Getting Inspired

Fashion, like any form of art, requires inspiration. A trip to your local museum, art gallery, or concert are great places to see culture in from a different perspective.

I took a trip to The AGO (Art Gallery of Ontario) and feel in love with the love story that was Frida & Diego. Their different outlooks on Mexico’s revolutionary culture during the 1920s and 1930s and how they expressed the same emotion, differently, was truly inspiring and is the reason they are considered Mexico’s most famous artists.

I got this shoulderless shirt as a hand-me-down from a friend, she found it a hard piece to work in her wardrobe, and to be honest I did too. I like the asymmetry in the sleeve length, and I paired it with a easy black maxi with a thigh-high slit, to make this shirt work great for an evening party!
