I believe in breaking rules… if you know me well, you know that already. Rules are created for the general, and not really the specific individual.  So when it comes to fashion rules, I prefer to try to work around them.  The rule No White after Labour Day dates back to the early 1800s when the “1%” would arrive back home from their summer long vacations, and put away their summer clothes.  I believe that there is a time an a place for white after labour day, and I can’t wait to show you the same dress, rocked out for fall… stay tuned!

So Fresh – When Barbara Met Joe

Somethings are so natural. Like great things are classic and timeless. Joe Fresh is a perfect example of this.  With clean lines and bold colours, Joe Mimram’s collection has become a staple in my closet since its launch.

When the Queen and Portland location teamed with Lou Lou Magazine to throw a fall shopping event, I knew I had to go. I usually grab a piece or two when I go grocery shopping or am near a store.  I am excited to rock so many of the bold coloured pieces I picked up. It is going to be a very colour blocked textured season.

Oh and I had the privilege of meeting Joe Mimram. It was amazing.

First Impressions

Dress: Fumblin’ Foe    Shoes: Steve Madden    Necklace: Fallon Fenton

On my first day of my new job, I had just dislocated my toe, so for a fashion girl trying to make a stylish impression, it was pretty heartbreaking. I’ve been wearing a lovely shoe on my left foot (see the blue thing below) for the last few weeks, combined with one of my limited flats. I found this to be a daily struggle, trying to dress in my favourite pieces, and having to slip into, not only this shoe, but flats rather than my heels.

I also thought this was the perfect opportunity to wear my beautiful spiked collar that I’d won from The Coveteur and Fallon Fenton. (I had hoped that the sparkles would distract from the thing on my foot.) It truly is a masterpiece, and I can’t wait to use it to glam and punk up, many of my corporate and girly outfits. Thanks again to the lovely ladies (and Jake) of The Coveteur, keep up the wonderful work!
