Coat Confessions: Part 3 Winter Formal Edition
Coat Confessions: Part 4 – The Denim Details
I’ve never been so happy to see the end of a year come. 2016 was rough, emotionally for me, and the last few weeks I’ve spent focused on my health and wellness, which will continue through into 2017 and hopefully make it my most successful year. Thank you for all of the love and support this past year!

Spring time has got me very confused. There is no real consistency in the weather or when it comes to preparing for spring outfits and outings, the only way to survive is to be ready for everything. On cooler days, like last week when Trevor and I were running around downtown, the temperatures were bouncing around 10 degrees (50 fahrenheit) and depending on where you were and if you were in the sun or not, it was freezing and windy. Armed with a warm drink, and an extra layer, we were ready for anything.
I typically lean towards leather jackets during this season, but since this year’s biggest fabric trend is clearly denim, especially raw and embroidered, I’ve been loving the attention to the versatile staple. My perfect denim coat for 2016 is all about embellishments, and Marc Jacobs nailed it with studs, stars and even a sequins cherry patch. Paired with the must-have cut for denim pants, flares, I was warm until we approached a terribly windy section of Queen St. where we grabbed another coffee to warm up.

I realized recently, that I don’t really do basic well. I mean I can put together a very casual or simple outfit and rock it with confidence, I just feel my personal best wearing bright colours and bold prints. For this reason, I’ve fallen in love with Toronto native designer Tanya Taylor. Based out of New York, her playful patterns excite my eyes and have jumped right into my heart.
If rocking a head-to-toe printed ensemble is too daring for you, try one bold piece at a time. A striking colour or breath-taking print, can add so much to an outfit.

]]>Trevor and I are traditionalist. Valentine’s Day isn’t necessarily a huge deal for us, as we spend most days expressing our love and gratitude to each other. But we do like to celebrate the sentiment with Thai food.
Other than the delicious dinner we will enjoy tonight, we don’t have much planned for our long weekend. I’m still on the mend from my recent knee surgery, so there will likely be a Netflix marathon of sorts, while staying cozy and warm.
There is absolutely nothing better (and cuter) to be wearing while doing nothing, than this sick sweat suit from Toronto brand Skinny Sweats. Adrienne Butikofer, creates her line of luxury loungewear mostly with her own hands, in super-small batches. What I love most about this slow-fashion brand, is that Adrienne takes pride in the process and works with local vendors to create truly timeless products. And luckily for us, to celebrate Valentine’s Day, she’s put all of her Rose Quartz pieces on sale! She’s also shared her plans for her new collection, inspired by the Pantone colours of the year, Blue Serenity and Dusk will be added to the Rose Quartz, which has just been released for pre-sale and are perfect for spring!
So happy Valentine’s Day to everyone celebrating this special day make sure to treat your self!! I hope everyone enjoys their day off tomorrow! Stay warm!

I’ve been in saving mode for some time, trying to limit my expenses and only buying things that are on major discount. The end of the month of February/beginning of March gets extremely difficult to not find things that are marked down so low that they make you feel like your stealing!
The first thing I found was this coat, mixed in with pea coat in the basement of my local Urban Outfitters. But what I really had found was a beautiful blue leather jacket by Australian brand Ryder. I’ve always been a big fan of the cool-girl label, which uses a great mix of graphic prints and beautiful colours. The coat was marked down 84%, coming in at less than $100.
The next must-have that I found was this Marc by Marc Jacobs laptop bag, that will double as a purse. I’ve wanted it since the day I saw it, and that’s one of the reasons that I love shopping at Hudson’s Bay. If you keep your eye one something, you can always get it at a great price! I ended up with this baby for just over $40, and could not have been smiling any bigger as I left the store last week.

]]>Welcome back from the holidays! Sorry that I’ve been away from the blogging action, but I was celebrating a bit too much with family and friends, sipping and snacking the holidays season away. We will soon be back into the normal swing of things, I have put myself on heavy restriction, to purchase nothing new, (unless it’s a steal) and to save for my upcoming winter get-away. We are exactly 1 month away until we hit the beach, and the goal will be to spend less time in the mall, and more time at the gym, working off that last bottle of red, enjoyed with friends.
A yearly, New Year’s Resolution for me, is to live a healthier life, and 2014, I took up the lifestyle of juicing which has introduced so many more fruits and vegetables into my life. I also created the hashtag #onawalkwiththenegins, which allowed for my Instagram followers to join my husband and I (with friends) on our walks around the city with the goal to help you get outside.
In 2015, I hope to add some more physical activities to help with having better overall balance, and learn to cook meals, which will allow for us to save money and take control of what we are putting in our bodies. I hope the last bit of 2014 is magical and that all of your dreams come true in 2015! Thanks for spending so much time with me this year!
xx.

There is something to be said about gloomy grey days, and the lack of need to wear sunglasses, but rather my prescription frames that I simply adore.
When I wake up to a weather report that calls for a cool and cloudy day, I get excited at the opportunity to wear my glasses, before dreading the idea of leaving my bed. I drive into and out of sunlight during my daily commute, so unless it’s going to be overcast, it usually easier for me to wear contact lenses and sunglasses.
I picked out these Ray Ban frames at ClearlyContact.ca, and I absolutely adore their flirty shape. The cat-eye styled frame looks amazing on so many different people, and has really become one of the top style for glasses. I find that being able to style different glasses allows for your to change your look so easily. Recently, I’ve been recommending to all of my friends lately to buy two different pairs of glasses, something basic and another pair that’s more bold, fun or daring.

When BaubleBar, my latest guilty pleasure when it comes to jewellery, teamed up Emma Roberts to work as a “guest bartender” and design a line of their affordable gems, magical things happened. Her carefree and timeless style came through with all of the coolest trends in jewels. My favourite piece from my shopping spree, are these Third Eye Jackets.
