Coat Confessions: Part 3 Winter Formal Edition
Coat Confessions: Part 4 – The Denim Details
I’ve never been so happy to see the end of a year come. 2016 was rough, emotionally for me, and the last few weeks I’ve spent focused on my health and wellness, which will continue through into 2017 and hopefully make it my most successful year. Thank you for all of the love and support this past year!
]]>Each September, probably due to back-to-school anxiety, I can’t help but feel the need to reflect on new resolutions while checking in on where I am for my 2016 goals. This year, I’ve been pretty good with my overall goals; I’ve been getting back into the groove of working out (since my knee surgery) and doing my yoga practice; I’ve made smarter decisions around food, while never feeling neglected; and I’ve made my clothes last longer by taking better care, and thus spending less on new fast fashion.
I hope to continue these good practices, but moving into fall means I’m moving into my busiest time for both my work and personal life. So my new “school year” resolutions are going to be to spend more time. More time with family, more time doing yoga, more time exploring. I’m going ensure that my time for the rest of the year is well-spent, spending each moment being meaningful.
Ok, back to fall fashion. We’ve had a hot end of summer/early fall season so far, but believe it or not, I’ve already swapped most of my summer clothes out to make room for my fall wardrobe. I’m ready for layers, boots and sweaters, but since we’re not quite there yet, it’s the perfect time to layer those dreamy fall fashions. I picked up this dress back at the end of summer with the thought to layer it with a sweater and tights for fall, but paired with cute platform sneakers, my Daniel Wellington watch and dainty jewellery, it was the perfect early transitional piece (and kinda screams back-to-school for me).
ICYMI on my instagram – You can/should shop for this classically beautiful watch with 15% off at danielwellington.com until September 30th, using the code BARBARAANN, as it’s the perfect fall accessory.

I’ve been in saving mode for some time, trying to limit my expenses and only buying things that are on major discount. The end of the month of February/beginning of March gets extremely difficult to not find things that are marked down so low that they make you feel like your stealing!
The first thing I found was this coat, mixed in with pea coat in the basement of my local Urban Outfitters. But what I really had found was a beautiful blue leather jacket by Australian brand Ryder. I’ve always been a big fan of the cool-girl label, which uses a great mix of graphic prints and beautiful colours. The coat was marked down 84%, coming in at less than $100.
The next must-have that I found was this Marc by Marc Jacobs laptop bag, that will double as a purse. I’ve wanted it since the day I saw it, and that’s one of the reasons that I love shopping at Hudson’s Bay. If you keep your eye one something, you can always get it at a great price! I ended up with this baby for just over $40, and could not have been smiling any bigger as I left the store last week.

]]>Fashion Magazine is headed to Miami this week, and asked their style panel what to wear when adventuring around this beautiful and lively city. I’ve been going to Miami, since I was kid, and feel as though it’s my second home. I’ll be heading there in February and cannot wait to hit the malls and beaches. Here is what I told Fashion Magazine is my biggest tip to for packing for this sunny city.

When I started blogging, my favourite trend to style was the playful pattern one that is still going strong today. Unlikely duos allow for the most interesting outfits. Since my favourite colour combo lately has been a bright red and pale blue, I tried to style within this colour-story but with contrasting patterns.
The outcome has got to be one of my favourite outfits I’ve ever worn. The strong plaid print from the overall-dress mixed with the sheer and delicate snake-skin blouse, is unexpectedly amazing.

This season, matching sweater sets (tops and bottoms) are going to be huge. That look is a lot for many people so to tone down the trend look for some great knit separates that you’ll be able to pair together while shopping the new fall collections.
