Fashion Magazine asked their style panel this week about styling more than one statement piece. Here is what I said, including my tip on keeping the look feel balanced by ensuring no more than one item in your clothing, accessories and one beauty feature to highlight.

This week, Fashion Magazine asked their style panel how to wear silk during the hot summer months. Silk, while it’s very breathable, also allows for sweat to leave some embarrassing pit-stains which could be problematic on hot days. But, with help from a good antiperspirant (I love this one from Dove) I spend my summers sweat-free in luxurious silks! Here is how I told Fashion to style them.
This dress is clearly one of my favourites, seen here and here in each Spring/Summer season.
I’m not sure who is reading my fashion dreams there at Lord & Taylor’s 424Fifth, but this entire new collection is insanely perfect. This sweater…I can’t even… I was at a loss of words when I found it, which is exclusively available at Hudson’s Bay. Half leopard and half plaid – I’m not even sure how this came to be. Oh, 424Fifth, we are just getting started my friend!

At the start of each season, I am always on the hunt for the perfect new dress that will become my favourite for the season. I look for something that fits well with a conservative/work appropriate elements (coverage of bra straps, not too deep of a v-neck, and the cut to be just above or below the knee). This season I’ve been able to find everything I was looking for with this amazing dress from eShakti, an online retailer that specializes in customizing those very details. It’s crazy to have a dress fit so well without trying it on and getting it adjusted! With a selection of adorable prints and styles eShakti.com has a great dress for every occasion and I can’t wait to see the next one I’ll pick up!

]]>What is sexy? I often ask myself the same question in terms of clothing. Trying to be sexy usually doesn’t work, as it comes off trying too hard and awkward. Rather the goal is to find a natural look, which you feel great in and allows you to glow with confidence… now that is sexy. There truly isn’t anything sexier than confidence. Well tailored clothing will allow you to gain that confidence. No matter how you like your clothes; oversized, tight or fitted, it is important that they are cut well so that they flatter your body.
Oh and leopard print. That’s pretty sexy too
This Valentine’s day will be our first as since Trevor (my photographer) and I got married and I’m not too sure of the details but we’ve discussed starting a new tradition. Regardless, I will use any excuse to dress up and celebrate our love! Happy Valentine’s my loves and I hope you all have a lovely and sexy day!

Thank you everyone for your support and love!
And thank you to my photographer, best friend and husband, Trevor Negin.
The top trend of the year was plaid.
The top post of the year was our surprise wedding on August 18. #bandtsurprisewedding
A wedding is the biggest fashion moment for a woman and my J. Mendel gown was the perfect mix of vintage and unexpected enchantment for the morning affair.

Can’t wait to see what adventures we get into in 2014!

]]>This season, we aren’t putting away our floral patterns quite yet. The unexpected fall print is being paired with plaid for a 90s vibe. I am totally loving the fall floral, and it allows me to not store these happy prints in my storage for the season.

]]>Sometimes when shopping for others, you get caught up with the idea of dressing up, and I end up buying something that I simply can’t live without. I found this playsuit (a one piece, top and bottom outfit) the other day when shopping and knew that it was not only perfect for my grandparents 60th wedding anniversary, but I’d be able to wear it time and time again.
It is a statement piece, a solid article of clothing that draws attention when entering a room. I can’t wait to wear it for a meeting and dress it up with a blazer to create a completely different style.

]]>After the storm you have to get back into the swing of things and move on. I feel like when you’re having a rough day it’s best wear something bright to cheer you up. There is a good chance the people around you could use some visual stimulation too, so dressing in solid monochromatic colours should make the people around you smile too. Here is my monochromatic rainbow, mixing tones, hues, and prints to create interesting outfits.

Fashion Magazine asked the style panel how to rock the crop top this season, here is what I said.
I wanted to show how you can easily wear it with pants or a skirt, but in reality it’s all about the fit, so try on some options to make sure you get it right!
