When I started blogging, my favourite trend to style was the playful pattern one that is still going strong today. Unlikely duos allow for the most interesting outfits. Since my favourite colour combo lately has been a bright red and pale blue, I tried to style within this colour-story but with contrasting patterns.
The outcome has got to be one of my favourite outfits I’ve ever worn. The strong plaid print from the overall-dress mixed with the sheer and delicate snake-skin blouse, is unexpectedly amazing.

Two years ago, I was the girl capturing the world behind the lens, but since starting Barbara Ann Style Blog, I’ve learned a few tricks to nailing a good shot. Fashion Magazine asked their style panel, how we do it? Here is what I shared about being in front of the camera. The secret I didn’t share, was my super talented secret weapon, Trevor Negin. I’m lucky enough to have fallen in love and married the Toronto-based photographer last year.

So as this trend, of not getting dressed, lingers on, I’ve grown to love it, and I think most people have. The soft fabrics are easy to wear and insanely comfortable. They come in every form of print, pattern, colour and now with a cropped version available now part of Joe Fresh’s SS14 Runway collection, we have a perfect cut for this hot weather that is here. These pants are my absolute favourite things to through on whenever I’m feeling sleepy, and paired with a luxurious silk shirt it’s nothing but lazy luxury.

And thank you to my photographer, best friend and husband, Trevor Negin.
The top trend of the year was plaid.
The top post of the year was our surprise wedding on August 18. #bandtsurprisewedding
A wedding is the biggest fashion moment for a woman and my J. Mendel gown was the perfect mix of vintage and unexpected enchantment for the morning affair.

]]>This season, we aren’t putting away our floral patterns quite yet. The unexpected fall print is being paired with plaid for a 90s vibe. I am totally loving the fall floral, and it allows me to not store these happy prints in my storage for the season.

]]>After the storm you have to get back into the swing of things and move on. I feel like when you’re having a rough day it’s best wear something bright to cheer you up. There is a good chance the people around you could use some visual stimulation too, so dressing in solid monochromatic colours should make the people around you smile too. Here is my monochromatic rainbow, mixing tones, hues, and prints to create interesting outfits.

Burr it’s cold out. Shooting this past winter has definitely been an experience, most of the pictures we take have my eye spitting out tears from the freezing winter winds. Though I love the F/W season; mainly because of the layering and styling; I’m at the point when I’m praying for an early spring. My closet is tired, fashion week pictures have me craving a shopping spree that I sadly can’t afford yet, and my skin and hair could use some Vitamin D stat.
But hang in there kittens, during this long weekend, take a fresh SPRING look at your closet. Check out the New York Fashion Week pictures available on Fashion Magazine, and look for trends and pieces you already have. How can you pair some patterns in a new way? There are some insane deals right now at the malls, can you plan ahead and pick something up now for next season? Just things to think about for the weekend!
