This week, Fashion Magazine asked their style panel how to wear silk during the hot summer months. Silk, while it’s very breathable, also allows for sweat to leave some embarrassing pit-stains which could be problematic on hot days. But, with help from a good antiperspirant (I love this one from Dove) I spend my summers sweat-free in luxurious silks! Here is how I told Fashion to style them.
This dress is clearly one of my favourites, seen here and here in each Spring/Summer season.
The only way I can get through my weekly tasks after a long work week is by dressing up and making things like groceries and dry cleaning seem more glamourous. It may seem silly, to wear your heels to a like picking up fresh produce, but by making this activity seem more special you may find a new sense of enjoyment in it.

]]>It must be the weather, the reason that I’ve been in a daze for the last week or so. Toronto hasn’t felt this nice in so long, and everyone should be taking advantage of the Vitamin D. Dressing for early summer involves planning for the potential of extreme heat, with breezes and the potential dropping of temperature come sundown. I tend to gravitate towards breathable fabrics like silk, that are ideal for absorbing any sweat during the day while being light weight and easy to be worn layered under a sweater for the evening.

Fine jewellery can add great detail to a somewhat plain outfit. We all have our favourite pieces, mine are small enough to wear daily, but have a little personality, for those who take a second look.
I love silk jackets, wraps, coverups, well silk in general. I think there is nothing more luxurious this fine fabric, so whenever you can get a hold of a silk treasure, with a great pattern as a bonus, hold on to it. These will likely (hopefully) be timeless & classic pieces that can be worn decade-after-decade differently, and passed along to friends and possibly even future generations.

I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekends, and had a great first day back to work, or for those lucky enough to be continuing their education, back to school. I had so much fun this weekend and was able to explore the Toronto Island, The Canadian Exhibition, and Main Street Unionville. Though, waking up for work this morning was a very difficult. It may have been the rain or the weekend’s activities, but I was definitely not the only person who was tired today.
So when everything is telling you to be sleepy, why not dress for it. Fashion, this season has given us the “go ahead” to wear pajamas to work, out for dinner, basically anywhere. This lounge wear is so effortless, and is really about layering and comfort. Made from cottons and silks, pajama pants (with matching tops) can be found everywhere, from Joe Fresh to Topshop. Next time your bed is calling your name at 6 am, put on some silky pants, and feel better knowing that you will likely be the most comfortable person in your office.

So it’s happening, the first of my friends got engaged and a huge mazel tov goes out to the lovely couple! So as summer festivities tend to a lot of excited people, in often tight spaces, it’s important to start building a stay-cool summer wardrobe. Opt out of a glam cocktail dress for a change, and try something a loose silk dress. It will keep you cool, and a classic piece can be worn year after year, as this is just the beginning of a lot of engagement (and outfits!).
