On May 14th 2013, you should wear new jeans to celebrate and create awareness for the National Denim Day in support of the Cure Foundation to fight against breast cancer. Bluenotes will donate a portion of proceeds from each denim purchase nationwide from May 13 to May 19, 2013. Founded in 1996, the CURE Foundation has raised nearly $25 million, with National Denim Day as it’s largest initiative.

Bluenotes Spring/Summer collection has this season’s hottest denim trends from the oversized shorts, ombré shirts to the polka dot cropped skinny jeans, all available at crazy affordable prices.

Going out during the summer, even at night, can be hard to dress for due to the unbearable heat. I love the idea for foregoing pants, and rather keeping it short and sweet.

It’s insanely hot out – probably the hottest summer since my summers as a camp counsellor in Malibu California. Its bittersweet that my cut off shorts and DIY crafted tie dye tank tops are no longer the uniforms for my summer. Rather it’s really about silky shirts, A-line skirts, and great wedges.
Tips for the office: bra straps are not really okay, so if your outfit doesn’t allow you to wear an appropiate bra, you may want to rethink your outfit. Shorts are great, but always think about length. Women know when their skirts or dress are too short, but often feel they can pull off shorter shorts in the office. I would rather opt out of shorts for the office and stick with a skirt to be safe. Its easier to dress down a dress skirt then dress up (and stay in the work appropriate zone) a pair of shorts. Maxi dresses and skirts are a great options for a summer office wardrobe, but make sure they aren’t too long so you’re tripping all over it.

Sometimes you need a quick fix to change a look. Last night, I was in a drugstore and came across Manic Panic Cotten Candy hair dye picked it up. I thought as today is my 25th birthday it would be the perfect opportunity to play with some colour and one of this season’s craziest trends. Dipped Dyed / Ombre hair, and I LOVE IT. I’m not sure if I’ll continue to use the temporary dye, get the real deal done, or let it fade back to blonde…well see!

One of the biggest trends this spring is colour blocking ice cream coloured outfits. This is my interpretation of this bright and powerful look. I found these great  creamsicle  dress pants, and knew I had to have them. They will work so well all spring/summer and will work into the fall wearing it with some of the amazing textured pieces that I’ve been collecting. And finally decent lighting to see my freshly coloured hair by Natalie Shemuel @ Image Makeover. Love her, she does the best cut and colour

There are some days, when you have no idea what the day will have in store. These days its best to dress in simple pieces that are comfortable. I would always recommend wedges (if your going to to do a heel) for days that are 8+ hours, as they are much easier on your body.

Another way to deal with unexpected weather changes in months like may is to dress with only one half of you exposed.
Think about it a long maxi and a tank (with a light layer of course) or a great pair of shorts and a longer sleeve. The balance created through this will help those who may feel uncomfortable wearing shorts during the weekdays.
