Today marks the first sighting of snow for me, and though it didn’t last long, or stay on the ground, the fact that winter is about to hit the city of Toronto, is a frightening thought.
During the winter months, I turn to fashion to keep moods cheerful, both mine and my peers. Sometimes a playful print or bright colour can do magic to change someone’s perspective on an entire day. Animal prints are always on trend, so recently I stole my husband’s dress shirt on an extremely stressful day, which is covered in simple illustrations of Dalmatians. The playful print was the perfect comic relief to what could have been a long and daunting day.
Do you have any prints or colours that you wear to lift your spirits?

Since joining ClearlyContacts.ca as one of their style ambassadors earlier this year, I’ve completely fallen in love with wearing my frames. These amazing Ray-Bans have become my newest staple, and are helping to define my spring style. Glasses can add so much instant glam to every outfit and this spring I look forward to sharing with you how glasses can enhance your style. Can we talk about Cat Eyes #monkeythekitty <3

You have favourite things for a reason. Music, food, entertainment or even lipstick colours, whether it be because they may taste good or they look pretty, we all have our own set of preferences that change and grow with us. Our wardrobe is like that too. We pick our fav T-shirts, jeans and shoes usually because they fit the best or are the most comfortable.
Something that I recommend for everyone to figure out is their own favourite trend. Something that can help define your wardrobe. It could be, black and white, florals or nautical, for example. Look for something that is a classic, yet an always updating trend, so you can always have something that looks current, while being able to add a new piece to spice up the look. This will help ease some pressure to find new trends each season.

As we approach the last long weekend of the summer, it’s probably the hardest trend transition of the year, as we tend to hold on to summer as long as we possibly can. This season there are some easy trends that we can carry over from summer, like the strong black and white outfit and really bold graphic prints. Here is what I said when Fashion Magazine discussed this with their style panel.

Everyone got really excited when they saw this kind of insane black and white graphic print on many of the runways during Spring/Summer 2012.There were stripes, polka dots and checkers, each used in strong contrasting sizes and directions. This look is like a graphic design playground for your eyes.
Hope everyone affected by tonight’s snow is driving safely.

]]>I sometimes find winters in Canada really hard to get through. The short days, darkness, grey skies, salt stains, insane driving, and of course the cold, are just a few of the reasons why people struggle around this time of year. Mental health is so important to be discuss, and to know that you are never alone. There are so many Canadians who suffer from SAD (Seasonal affective disorder) which is a form of depression that occurs at a certain time of the year, usually in the winter. Getting outside, doing things that make you happy, and even just wearing bright colours and bold prints can not only make you feel better, but also those around you. So wishing everyone a bright and wonderful last few days of January!
