What To Wear To The Holiday Party
Kaelen X Sam Roberts Band for Opernation 2013
I feel so grateful that for everything that has happened in this past year.
Thank you everyone for your support and love!
And thank you to my photographer, best friend and husband, Trevor Negin.
The top trend of the year was plaid.
The top post of the year was our surprise wedding on August 18. #bandtsurprisewedding
A wedding is the biggest fashion moment for a woman and my J. Mendel gown was the perfect mix of vintage and unexpected enchantment for the morning affair.

Can’t wait to see what adventures we get into in 2014!

]]>I love spring for so many reasons, the weather gets nicer, flowers start to bloom, we get to bring out our spring/summer clothing out of storage, and put away the bulk sweater. Except you really can’t, because we still get those days that are awfully cold. I feel like i’m at the point in the year when I need all my clothes out and available to me (unfortunately I live in a tiny apartment, so I can really only fit 2 seasons in my clothes at a time).
So it’s time to layer up, and wear this set of clothes one more time before the switch. Try mixing in some of the new pieces you’ve picked up for spring with your fall and winter stuff. This is probably the easiest way to get for the next little bit, depending on how much pre spring shopping you’ve done.
Enjoy the early days of spring and don’t forget a sweater!

Winter weekends are about warmth and comfort. Sweaters should be soft, pants should be warm, and you should enjoy wearing your clothing.
On the weekends, I love wearing more comfortable outfits, it’s a time when I can dress down and feel good in some of my favourite pieces. These pants by Cut25 are actually cut amazingly. My BFF, Jordana, and I both picked them up when shopping on our recent trip in Miami, we both have completely different styles and bodies, and they worked of each of us perfectly. Finding miracle pants like these are rare, though, the two of us have worked the same items before with brands like Jbrand, Banana Republic, and Joe Fresh. What are some brands you and your best friend love?

]]>So it’s a new year, and my resolutions are to … continue as is.
Well no. I have many resolutions, but in terms of fashion, other than shop the sales and vintage (which is always the mandate) I resolve to continue styling away, and creating more interesting looks to blog and share!
This season texture is everything, and this velvet Joe Fresh turtleneck paired with this amazing micro-fleece sherpa coat by Pins and Needles is just so fun to touch!
Wishing you all a fashionable new year!

]]>I have many different opinions about the shade grey, and are just as confusing as the proper way to spell it; Grey (CND) vs Gray (US). But regardless of how I feel about this colour, dressing in it, monochromatically, can be a fun challenge.
I threw together this outfit from a combination of desires I’ve had. This turtleneck from Topshop is see-through—I love the chunky-knit combined with the delicate and revealing underneath crop top. I layered on top of this a plaid shirt, which makes this look seem effortless, as flannel often does.
I think it’s business casual meets sexy lumberjack-construction worker. It’s a weird look – but I like it.

]]>Fashion, like any form of art, requires inspiration. A trip to your local museum, art gallery, or concert are great places to see culture in from a different perspective.
I took a trip to The AGO (Art Gallery of Ontario) and feel in love with the love story that was Frida & Diego. Their different outlooks on Mexico’s revolutionary culture during the 1920s and 1930s and how they expressed the same emotion, differently, was truly inspiring and is the reason they are considered Mexico’s most famous artists.

]]>Ok, so I’m obsessed with the oversized plaid print. It’s very 90s while being very graphic at the same time. So when I found these pants a few months ago at Urban Outfitters, I grabbed them right away, and then last week I was walking by the men’s section of the same location, and found this sweater. I stared at it for a bit, wondering if I’d actually wear it together. I clearly made a great choice in picking it up, as together this is such a strong look.
Fashion can be scary. Whether it be spending a lot of money on something, trying a new trend, wearing a crazy print, or going vintage shopping for the first time. I will always say go for what scares you (well depends when it comes to $$). If you’re still unsure, have a fashion team, who’s opinions you can actually trust.
For me it’s my best friend, Jordana, and my boyfriend/photographer, Trevor, with styles completely their own, they are the ones who dare and challenge me the most to try new things.

Prints—this season I’ve been obsessed with mixing prints, patterns, and textiles. I usually try to work with in the same colour story to maintain consistency within an outfit. But I love the way it creates a playground for your eyes.
