As the day that we recognize our mothers for their fabulousness is approaching (tomorrow), Fashion Magazine, reached out to their style panel to discuss the growing trends that are reflective of our mother’s style. Now I must admit, my mom grew up with killer style, but even now, she’s has that effortlessly-chic thing down pat.
Here is what I said about my super-mom. Happy Mother’s Day mom!

What I’ve come to realize, is that glasses can be the one accessory to make a huge impact on how you look. A simple change of the frames can switch up your look from 70’s glam to geek chic.
ClearlyContacts.ca‘s spring 2015 campaign was asking their Look Ambassadors to Bend the Trend, and they make it so easy to stay on top of their eyewear trends, with super cute frames. My trend that I represented was the Full Circle, which I adore, and this look is perfect to reflect the 70’s trend that is all the rage this spring season. My girl, Marie, who is an eyewear designer breaks down the season’s biggest trends right now on ClearlyContact’s blog.

Fashion Magazine asked their style panel what our fashion resolutions were for 2015, and before picking plan, I looked back at last year’s post to see if I held on to my resolution. The plan was to fall in love with the pieces I purchased and slow down the spending and shopping. Overall, I definitely feel that I’ve invested in basics, that are timeless.
This year, I’ll be moving my dream home that I purchased this past summer with my husband, so moneys will be tied up with saving for the big move. I find that the easiest way to change up your look, quickly and inexpensively is through accessories. Here’s what I told Fashion Magazine.

There is something to be said about gloomy grey days, and the lack of need to wear sunglasses, but rather my prescription frames that I simply adore.
When I wake up to a weather report that calls for a cool and cloudy day, I get excited at the opportunity to wear my glasses, before dreading the idea of leaving my bed. I drive into and out of sunlight during my daily commute, so unless it’s going to be overcast, it usually easier for me to wear contact lenses and sunglasses.
I picked out these Ray Ban frames at ClearlyContact.ca, and I absolutely adore their flirty shape. The cat-eye styled frame looks amazing on so many different people, and has really become one of the top style for glasses. I find that being able to style different glasses allows for your to change your look so easily. Recently, I’ve been recommending to all of my friends lately to buy two different pairs of glasses, something basic and another pair that’s more bold, fun or daring.

This past spring, my partner in crime, Trevor Negin and I started the using the hashtag #OnAWalkWithTheNegins, and seem to have started a trend. Using custom hashtags, to create instagram libraries of trips (#roadtrippinwithboo, #eurotrippinwithboo, #usatrippinwithboo), events (#bandtsurprisewedding), or activities (#barbaraannstyleblogjuicing) allows for new followers to explore easily the history of our travels and life.
The view from this shoot is one that we’ll definitely be seeing a lot more of in the future, as we are planning a big move come 2015, and the official opening of our new studio.

Fashion Magazine asked their style panel this week about styling more than one statement piece. Here is what I said, including my tip on keeping the look feel balanced by ensuring no more than one item in your clothing, accessories and one beauty feature to highlight.

We have entered the month of August, and our nights have just gotten cooler and there’s a slight breeze throughout the day chilling the air. I think it’s time we really start thinking about transitional pieces that will work well into the fall. Right now there are amazing sales in the stores, and it’s a great time to think ahead and pick up pieces like this sweater dress, a steal- last year from the clearance rack at Club Monaco.

This summer season is truly about colour, as the gardens are in full bloom and the days seem to last forever. This season’s bright colours influenced the newest collection of Derek Cardigan frames available at Clearly Contacts. Available in the classic 7003 frame in fluoro fuchsia, blue, purple, and an amazing neon green that will turn heads! So far I’ve loved every look I’ve styled these frames with, and they are quickly becoming my favourite accessory of the season.

When Fashion Magazine asked me to style this season’s super hot trend of metallics, I was somewhat lost at first. I looked back to some of my favourite times I’ve worked with this trend before like last December when I wore my boldest metallic look which was a great mini dress from the Isabel Marant pour H&M collection.
I find that this trend, is much easier to introduce into your wardrobe as flavour, rather than being the featured item. Like when Topshop Canada brought out the bling with this chain collar around the holidays last year, or this insane cuff from ASOS. Metallic shoes have always been a big thing (booties) (heels), and this summer there are so many choices available, and luckily now likely on sale!
Here is what I said to the style panel.

Spring’s here and temperatures are warming up (barely). With the change of season, we need to rethink our basics. Ivania Carpio, an amazing Dutch blogger, inspires me to trash my entire closet in search for the minimal lifestyle.
Now, I know that really isn’t realistic for me, as colour and patterns rule my life, I do love the idea of the new neutrals. This season I’m loving the mushroom/nude colourway. This Soia and Kyo leather bomber has become my spring coat of choice, working perfectly with pastels as well as neutrals.
