I’m not sure who is reading my fashion dreams there at Lord & Taylor’s 424Fifth, but this entire new collection is insanely perfect. This sweater…I can’t even… I was at a loss of words when I found it, which is exclusively available at Hudson’s Bay. Half leopard and half plaid – I’m not even sure how this came to be. Oh, 424Fifth, we are just getting started my friend!

I get asked what inspires my looks, and truthfully I look for the craziest things, question if I can pull it off and try it on. Usually if I’ve gotten this far, my decision has already been made. When getting dressed, I take risks and I often have asked my fiancé, Trevor if a outfit is too much. My theory is to always go for it at the end of the day it’s only fashion and you should have fun with it!

]]>There is nothing new about cobalt blue. I just think it’s a beautiful colour, and I can’t seem to stop myself from buying it.
I remember there was a time my best friend, Jordana, and I, would wear this hue of blue on our birthdays. Both of us thought that it made our blue eyes bigger, so year after year there was something cobalt blue on one of us. Currently you can see this colour every season, as it pops up in stores and magazines. Hot colours like this are best to get it in classic shapes, a great dress in this colour can become a classic statement piece easily.

So yesterday was the Joe Fresh x Lou Lou Shopping Event Where I had not only the privilege of shopping the fall collection on sale, but meeting Joe Mimran was such an honor. One of the great legends in Canadian fashion, and designing so many of my favourite pieces.
The fall collection is filled with beautiful prints, and bold colours to be mixed and matched. I was able to pick up some great pieces, that are going to work so well with the other fall trends! Fall is a great time to reset, and review. Normally I wouldn’t wear this collection of bracelets, but after a closer look – they totally work. Now is a good time to review your closet and jewelry box and edit while looking at things in a different light. (also giving a new excuse to go shopping)
things you should take a closer look at:
(please note this list will be updated as I plan an extended shopping trip)
Your Basic White Shirts: they are a basic and often get abused the most – if you see them on sale soon – I’d pick them up and donate your older one (if you can afford too of course)
Tights: Fall is around the corner and if you plan for the need pick them up whenever they go on sale. Warm tights, pantyhose, and all hosiery, are great investments if you can grab them reduced

So we all always can’t be shopping. So an awesome tip to buying classic pieces that will work season after season is colour. It’s super easy to find what you like and what looks good on you, human nature says we will surround ourselves with colours and patterns that compliments our personalities and appearance. I know I love red, but I look around my house and closet I see my favourite accent pieces in red, but also I have many strong shades of blue and numerous hues of browns and taupes. Like decorating (because style is style regardless of where it is) it’s best to work in colours of three, I like two brights and one neutral. When shopping and having the options of colour, pick the one that fits you and your closet most rather than trending one (ex: neon).
So when it comes to shopping and keeping the bills at a minimum, purchase classic colours you can wear year after year, your wallet and financial planners will thank you.
