Often the season changes before the rest of us are ready, causing us to need a quick jump start to our wardrobe. As storage in my tiny midtown apt is limited, I keep 2 seasons hidden away, and find myself usually wishing I’d had my FW14 closet sooner.
When I need to quick start my wardrobe, I run to my local mall, shopping through my favourite stores in search of what’s new and fresh for this season. I need to review what I have in storage before making an major purchases. This on-trend jumpsuit, was the perfect, take-me-anywhere piece that I knew I’ll live in this season, and a perfect way to help quick start my fall wardrobe.

It’s great when you find an item that has two jobs. Fashion Magazine asked the style panel, this past week, how to wear the coat-as-a-dress trend, and I really believe it’s about finding that special coat that can work everyday as something to keep you warm, but when dressed up with accessories becomes the focal point of an outfit. Here is what I said.

This season, we aren’t putting away our floral patterns quite yet. The unexpected fall print is being paired with plaid for a 90s vibe. I am totally loving the fall floral, and it allows me to not store these happy prints in my storage for the season.

Fashion Magazine asked their style panel how to feel great wearing the most basic summer essential, denim shorts. Here is what I said.

On May 14th 2013, you should wear new jeans to celebrate and create awareness for the National Denim Day in support of the Cure Foundation to fight against breast cancer. Bluenotes will donate a portion of proceeds from each denim purchase nationwide from May 13 to May 19, 2013. Founded in 1996, the CURE Foundation has raised nearly $25 million, with National Denim Day as it’s largest initiative.
Bluenotes Spring/Summer collection has this season’s hottest denim trends from the oversized shorts, ombré shirts to the polka dot cropped skinny jeans, all available at crazy affordable prices.
Please feel free to click here to make a donation directly to The Cure Foundation and help ensure that not one life is lost to breast cancer due to a lack of funding.

Fashion Magazine asked the style panel how to dress monochromatically, I went stripe on stripe and stayed within the same tone. It’s a bold look, but I totally love how the contrasting stripes worked out.
As promised, here is my baby Monkey. She is a 9 week old scottish fold munchkin.
Here is her youtube channel and my favourite video of her.

So runway shows are unfortunately something I don’t get to often experience first-hand, as I’ve always worked full time, but that doesn’t mean I’m not watching the shows, blogs, and the magazines, every time New York, Paris, London, and of course Toronto have their Fashion Weeks. Oscar de la Renta’s Spring Summer 2013 showed this week and it was unreal, I can’t even deal with the collection. It was so well thought out, having everything from gowns to piece easily worn for work.
With the inability to think of anyone else this morning I decided to rock this vintage Oscar de la Renta silk blouse I had picked up a while back while thrifting at Value Village.
Other must see collections from NYFW include the J. Crew and of course Marc Jacob’s, both with pieces I’ll be coveting for many months.

With the #dislocatedtoeof2012 coming to a mend, I’m am almost back in heels. For a short moments I can manage the discomfort to at least take a few pictures.
So for this week’s Dress Up Fridays (which I can now assume I’ll post on the following days) I decided to dress a little crazy. Contrasting patterns, as I’ve mentioned, has been huge for summer and will continue into the fall as a hot trend, but adding textures to mix. Today I did a little much, but I sort of like it, the stripes and polka dots we know works well. But for a real change I added some strong floral patterns in the wedges and with a black and gold floral statement necklace. The end of summer kind of makes me panic, so much to do, so many outfits still to wear, and only a few bright and sunny days left before we all put our jackets back on. Heads up, there may be some more crazy coming, as I feel fall tones down my style a bit, and I’m not quite ready.
