I love spring for so many reasons, the weather gets nicer, flowers start to bloom, we get to bring out our spring/summer clothing out of storage, and put away the bulk sweater. Except you really can’t, because we still get those days that are awfully cold. I feel like i’m at the point in the year when I need all my clothes out and available to me (unfortunately I live in a tiny apartment, so I can really only fit 2 seasons in my clothes at a time).
So it’s time to layer up, and wear this set of clothes one more time before the switch. Try mixing in some of the new pieces you’ve picked up for spring with your fall and winter stuff. This is probably the easiest way to get for the next little bit, depending on how much pre spring shopping you’ve done.
Enjoy the early days of spring and don’t forget a sweater!

big thanks for all the love and support over 2012! could not have done this without my amazing group of freelance photographers and stylists aka friends and my partner in crime and boo Trevor Negin. 2013 is going to be awesome!
]]>I have many different opinions about the shade grey, and are just as confusing as the proper way to spell it; Grey (CND) vs Gray (US). But regardless of how I feel about this colour, dressing in it, monochromatically, can be a fun challenge.
I threw together this outfit from a combination of desires I’ve had. This turtleneck from Topshop is see-through—I love the chunky-knit combined with the delicate and revealing underneath crop top. I layered on top of this a plaid shirt, which makes this look seem effortless, as flannel often does.
I think it’s business casual meets sexy lumberjack-construction worker. It’s a weird look – but I like it.

]]>Fashion, like any form of art, requires inspiration. A trip to your local museum, art gallery, or concert are great places to see culture in from a different perspective.
I took a trip to The AGO (Art Gallery of Ontario) and feel in love with the love story that was Frida & Diego. Their different outlooks on Mexico’s revolutionary culture during the 1920s and 1930s and how they expressed the same emotion, differently, was truly inspiring and is the reason they are considered Mexico’s most famous artists.

Ok, so I’m obsessed with the oversized plaid print. It’s very 90s while being very graphic at the same time. So when I found these pants a few months ago at Urban Outfitters, I grabbed them right away, and then last week I was walking by the men’s section of the same location, and found this sweater. I stared at it for a bit, wondering if I’d actually wear it together. I clearly made a great choice in picking it up, as together this is such a strong look.
Fashion can be scary. Whether it be spending a lot of money on something, trying a new trend, wearing a crazy print, or going vintage shopping for the first time. I will always say go for what scares you (well depends when it comes to $$). If you’re still unsure, have a fashion team, who’s opinions you can actually trust.
For me it’s my best friend, Jordana, and my boyfriend/photographer, Trevor, with styles completely their own, they are the ones who dare and challenge me the most to try new things.

With so many parties throughout the holiday season, and moving forward into the new year, it’s best to be prepared with a few great looks. Planning ahead as mentioned previously, will allow you to refine outfit and give you a chance to customize the look, and makes getting dressed a stress free experience.
Studies have shown that couples, when packing for a trip, planning a party, or getting ready to go out, will fight the most, so save yourself and your loved ones some headaches, and plan ahead. What my girlfriends and I do before the party season starts is have spontaneous styling parties, we will start by showing each other a new piece, and by the end of the night, we’ll have a bunch of new outfits documented on our smart phones.
My memory is sometimes not reliable so I always suggest snapping a picture of a great look you try on.
Fashion Magazine asked the style panel what we’ll be wearing on New Year’s Eve, here’s what I said.

Prints—this season I’ve been obsessed with mixing prints, patterns, and textiles. I usually try to work with in the same colour story to maintain consistency within an outfit. But I love the way it creates a playground for your eyes.

]]>Suiting up is without a question one of my favourite styles, so structured. You can have fun with textures and with your accessories by making bold statements, while keeping it simple.
Tweed always reminds me of the fall, and I think it works really well contrasted with something soft like lace. Banana Republic is the perfect place to find great pieces for the office, and you should take these classic pieces and wear them with your favourite trendy clothing to an unexpected look.
